The boundaries of the high tech industry continue to expand as
electronics are increasingly embedded in automotive, medical and
aerospace products. But what are the implications for e-commerce
standards which are becoming increasingly specialized for industry
sub-sectors? This session will offer insights and observations on
the challenges of e-commerce beyond borders
Delivering Commerce Across Borders - What can other bring to the
table?by Christian Harupa of DHL
Many management consultants, investment bankers and
business strategists have advised clients to focus on their core
value proposition to their Customers. Companies should focus on what
they do best – bring the best product to market, be ever focused on
satisfying the Customer needs or have the most operational efficient
organization. So if a Business focuses on its core value, where do
they get the rest to complete their business proposition? Simple –
outsource, buy it or rent it. This presentation examines various
aspects of delivering eCommerce capability across borders and what
value can be gained by not having a complete electronic commerce
solution as part of their core capability.

Best Practices in enabling SMEs - How to simplify eCommerce and
address geographical, industry and technology complexitiesby Tom Varghese Senior
Global Product Manager at
GXS
For most high tech companies, implementing suppliers beyond their
top 20% is very challenging since 100% participation is necessary to
obtain the maximum benefit from their investment in their
e-initiatives. Global partners introduce several key challenges
including different geographies, time zones, languages and support.
Today’s session will focus on solutions that can enable SMEs around
the world
RFID Global Standards
by Martin Treder of DHL
Identification and labeling of packages is a critical
area for collaboration between seller and buyer, between warehouse
and point of sales. The usage of proprietary standards in labeling,
bar-coding and RFID often impacts interoperability between the
parties of a transaction. This can be overcome by using ISO
standards. The presentation outlines some ideas and explains what
DHL Express is doing to support this development.

Research and Stanford Global Supply Chain Management Forum
UN/CEFACT Core Components Update
by Gunther Stuhec of SAP
A holistic B2B approach, in the complete value chain
via industries and countries, is still a big challenge. There still
exist too many different structures and representations for same
semantics. Especially the human readability XML leveraged this
dilemma. This presentation will show, why CCTS could be very helpful
and beneficial for solving issues. But the user will learn that CCTS
is not enough. Adoption is highly required, and this presentation
shows how the SAP is currently adopting CCTS. This presentation
gives also an outline how these CCTS libraries could be effectively
develop together in a community and by support of a revolutionary
tool. This will be demonstrated by the prototype "CCTS Modeler Warp
10".

Legal Aspects of eCommerce Supply Chain Solutions by David Marsh, IP, IT and Electronic Business Law Consultant E-commerce technological supply chain management
developments inevitably raise new legal issues. RFID raises
particular challenges from a data protection perspective,
covering central issues such as profiling, product
identification, codes of conduct, de-activation and stock
management and inventory controls. Application issues also
involve employees' privacy, staff management, product tracing,
ranging, data sharing, standards and electronic frequency and
passive/active systems concerns. David Marsh will review these
problems and discuss the latest thinking from a legal
perspective as regards codes of conduct, EU regulations
and national legislation. He will also analyse the underlying
issues of the facilitation of the technology against the
constraints to it created by regulation/legislative concerns.
Multi channel communication, fulfillment and visibilityby Carol Newton, Head of Global Customer Integration Supply
Chain Management at DHL Businesses have long been challenged to offer 100% communication
connectivity to their Trading Partners and Customers. By not
supporting a multi-channel approach to Customer integration,
Businesses are unable to offer and support business processes in
a cost effective, efficient manner. By changing the approach on
how Business systems are created and delivered, a Business may
present a coherent and consistent business process view to its
Customers through an integrated communication channel. This
business process centric approach can benefit by focusing on
reusable business processes and components accessed in a layered
architecture style. The integration platform that enables the
multi-channel communication, fulfillment and visibility must
display certain characteristics and will have demonstrable
business benefit. By adopting this approach for conducting
commerce with Customers, a Business may gain in lower
operational costs, increased revenue streams and less time to
deliver new Business Services or adapt to changing Customer,
Business requirements. An added benefit to the business process
centric approach is that it allows Businesses to participate in
collaborative Supply Chain activities and support new business
models

structures, business processes, and supply chain and integration
technologies play. E2open vice president Owen Tucker will unveil
results of a new research study involving over 500 leaders in the
automotive, aerospace & defense, consumer products, process

Global eInvoicing with local compliance – How to get smooth audits
and eliminate non compliance risksby Anders Hellermark, CEO
and Christiaan van der Valk, VP compliance at Trustweaver This presentation will show how to overcome
the growing tension between global consolidated data flows and
fragmented national law. TrustWeaver will give a hands-on demo of an
e-invoice tax audit in a multinational environment, showing how the
entire invoice lifecycle can be made auditable using modern
e-signature techniques and web services. By applying
country-specific security processes and making the results
verifiable from a central point in the transaction flow, companies
can cost-effectively set and enforce compliance strategies and best
practices throughout their supply chain. The presentation will
address questions such as: What is the tax inspector really looking
for? How do I set and manage an appropriate regulatory risk level?
How to design a compliant e-invoicing flow without compromising
compliance? What are today’s best practices for e-invoicing and how
will they evolve?

improving the visibility into the Supply Chain and increasing the
collaboration with partners.

work with Carriers and LSPs, amongst others.
Global Logistics Visibilityby Ryan Kraudel of GXS A dilemma has
emerged in high tech supply chains that is impacting manufacturers’
ability to seize market opportunities and meet increasingly- complex
customer needs. Product lifecycles are shrinking as customers’
preferences continue to change and customers’ expectations continue
to rise. Meanwhile, manufacturers have outsourced much if not all
of the physical manufacturing to low-cost regions, greatly expanding
the physical distance between the source of supply (primarily China
and Southeast Asia) and the source of demand (primarily the United
States and Western Europe), which has reduced supply chain
responsiveness and visibility. This presentation will describe how
the supply chain dilemma is impacting business results; how leading
companies are regaining supply chain visibility and responsiveness;
and how companies are increasingly competing on global supply chain
capabilities.
