  • Innovation proposal: Simplify B2B with the Hybrid Implementation Protocol (HIP) by Jan Fuchs of C&F Consulting
Using Structured Electronic Messaging is the most efficient way for creating virtual networks to serve as Virtual Enterprise, Virtual Market Place or Virtual Organizations. The Structured Electronic Message (SEM) makes abstraction of the top layer allowing heterogeneous organizations and applications to interconnect seamlessly.
Various protocols exist for creating structured electronic messages. The protocol one selects has an enormous influence on consistency, agility, reach, maintainability and cost of the virtual network.
In today’s business climate, Business managers want more consistency and more agility at the same time. More reach for less money. Flexible maintenance at lower cost. More Control with less hands-on. This seems all a bit contradictory and very often it is
. With the “Hybrid Implementation Protocol™”, Jan Fuchs succeeded in taking the best-in-breed characteristics of various message structuring protocols and has merged them into a single concept for SEM: HIP

When Olivetti – a Telecom Italia Group Company – was forced to change the EDI management system, SOA paradigm was chosen in order to minimize risks and meet requested SLA on a really simple – yet critical – business process. This case study tries to explain main drivers for SOA adoption and highlight true benefits the customer is experiencing

  • Foundation for Smart, Fast & Flexible Integrations by Franziska Kraus of Motorola
Condensed business process life cycles require faster integration planning, building and implementation more than ever. Integration processes need to be agile supporting globalization but eventually also turning back to regionalization, outsourcing as well as in sourcing. Outside of individual integration projects a governed integration framework bridging the gap between business and IT, providing focus on company objectives and metrics acts as base for sustainable and agile integrations

The CDG identified six different types of Collaboration Models prevalent in the high-tech industry and made an attempt to unambiguously describe them, their differentiating characteristics, usage guidelines, and typical operational Ts and Cs. These Collaboration Models represent the different ways in which a customer and a supplier interact with each other. One or more of the Collaboration Models can be implemented as deemed appropriate. Of the six models, Dynamic VMI model has not been published previously. In this model the buffer inventory for the customer is physically located at the supplier's site. This model introduces the concept of pooling the buffer to optimize inventory across the supply chain.

Adoption is highly required, and this presentation shows how the SAP is currently adopting CCTS.  This presentation gives also an outline how these CCTS libraries could be effectively develop together in a community and by support of a revolutionary tool. This will be demonstrated by the prototype "CCTS Modeler Warp 10".

  • Multi channel communication, fulfillment and visibility by Carol Newton, Head of Global Customer Integration Supply Chain Management at DHL
Businesses have long been challenged to offer 100% communication connectivity to their Trading Partners and Customers. By not supporting a multi-channel approach to Customer integration, Businesses are unable to offer and support business processes in a cost effective, efficient manner. By changing the approach on how Business systems are created and delivered, a Business may present a coherent and consistent business process view to its Customers through an integrated communication channel. This business process centric approach can benefit by focusing on reusable business processes and components accessed in a layered architecture style. The integration platform that enables the multi-channel communication, fulfillment and visibility must display certain characteristics and will have demonstrable business benefit. By adopting this approach for conducting commerce with Customers, a Business may gain in lower operational costs, increased revenue streams and less time to deliver new Business Services or adapt to changing Customer, Business requirements. An added benefit to the business process centric approach is that it allows Businesses to participate in collaborative Supply Chain activities and support new business models

  • Global Logistics Visibility by Ryan Kraudel of GXS
A dilemma has emerged in high tech supply chains that is impacting manufacturers’ ability to seize market opportunities and meet increasingly- complex customer needs.  Product lifecycles are shrinking as customers’ preferences continue to change and customers’ expectations continue to rise.  Meanwhile, manufacturers have outsourced much if not all of the physical manufacturing to low-cost regions, greatly expanding the physical distance between the source of supply (primarily China and Southeast Asia) and the source of demand (primarily the United States and Western Europe), which has reduced supply chain responsiveness and visibility. This presentation will describe how the supply chain dilemma is impacting business results; how leading companies are regaining supply chain visibility and responsiveness; and how companies are increasingly competing on global supply chain capabilities.
