1. What is EDIFICE?

EDIFICE is the European B2B Forum for the Electronics Industry.

Mission Statement: To provide a forum for companies with interests in computing, electronics, and telecommunication, which as a group, drives and enables global standardised B2B adoption in Europe.

EDIFICE's recommendations on implementation of B2B standards are assembled in a Framework for B2B. The Framework for B2B identifies each business area and the related inter-enterprise business processes which are of interest within the EDIFICE scope. The Framework provides an ordered, structured means of presenting the recommendations for each business area and it also provides the supporting information and technical infrastructure common to all business areas.

EDIFICE is a non-profit organisation, organised in the form of an association and governed by the articles of this Agreement, any regulations promulgated hereunder and by Articles 60-79 of the Swiss Civil Code.

2. What are EDIFICE's Objectives?
  • To support, have influence in, and promote the development, implementation and use of international standards and related implementation guidelines for B2B.
  • To design, develop and maintain a Framework for B2B.

  • To maintain relationships with other communities and be receptive to cross industry collaboration, aiming at the implementation of B2B. 
  • To ensure business management buy-in for B2B.
  • To act as a B2B competence centre for the industry, setting direction, creating awareness and providing learning opportunities on B2B concepts.  

  • To share B2B experiences on the implementation of standards.

3. What are the goals?

In order to satisfy the Objectives and set up the work to be done, a set of Goals will be defined and prioritised at least once a year. These Goals need to be tangible, measurable and achievable within a year from point of Resolution.

4. Who can join EDIFICE?

Any company or institution in Europe who identifies itself with the Mission Statement and the Objectives of EDIFICE can apply for Membership to EDIFICE

5. As a non-member, how can I get Involved in EDIFICE?

Send us your request to be included in the Observers Distribution list and participate to plenary meetings as observer.

6. Why should I join EDIFICE?

EDIFICE:

  • represents the majority of the European electronics industry and is recognised as such by other organisations
  • is a forum to be educated in Electronic Commerce processes and technologies and also avail of the knowledge and experiences of other member companies.
  • provides an opportunity to contribute to the direction and evolution of Electronic Commerce standards and processes that will benefit the industry.
  • your Trading Partners (TPs) are already there
  • it is in your interest to promote the EDIFICE recommendations down the supply chain – making sure implementations comply to the EDIFICE recommendations
  • you can refer back to the association in case of implementation issues with your Trading Partners
  • you have direct access to the EDIFICE Repository : Business models - Guidelines
  • the publications are accurate & up-to-date at all times (the Repository is updated twice a year)  
  • you have a vote on all EDIFICE policy matters
  • you have access to the Change Request Procedure  (updates to endorsed publications)
  • you have the possibility to launch a call for participation in any activity that would benefit your company and the membership
  • you have access to the membership – possibility to send out technical/business related questions, and get answers back from a variety of companies located WW.
  • you have the possibility to meet your TPs and competitors face to face (Task Group and Plenary meetings)
  • you want to be in the front seat to follow-up on new/changing B2B developments
  • you have access to other organisations through the EDIFICE liaisons (e.g. EIDX, RosettaNet, JEITA…)
  • EDIFICE members can request the Plenary's approval to represent EDIFICE at external events/meetings/workshops Using the EDIFICE name can lead to better results instead of acting as a single company – Marketing material is put available
  • you have the possibility to promote your company by hosting Plenary and Task Group meetings. This allows you to invite your Trading Partners and get them more actively involved, or you might attract new Trading Partners or establish new business relationships
