The 107th EDIFICE
Plenary was held on 4th & 5th February
2009 in Walldorf Germany hosted by SAP and co-sponsored by
Crossgate.
The theme covered:
“Simplifying
Business Network enablement”
The Plenary featured
contributions from Crossgate, C&F, Fairchild, GXS, IBM,
Motorola, SAP, Telecom Italia, Odette and OAGi.
Member representatives have

EDIFICE, SAP and Crossgate
welcomed over 50 delegates from 29 different organisations.

EDIFICE
Organisation:

New member companies:
Three companies applied for
membership and they were very warmly welcomed in the
community: Crossgate,
Pipechain and
Telcordia.

Elections of Secretary and
Treasurer:
Eric Pannekeet of Fairchild
Semiconductor was nominated for a next term as Secretary and
Stefan Harrstedt of Sony Ericsson was nominated for the
function of Treasurer. Both accepted the nominations and are
duly elected.

Call for nominations:
The 107th Plenary
calls for nominations for the function of Vice-Chair.
Denise Oakley, EMEA Marketing Director at GXS is nominated
for the function of Vice-Chair.
All nominations should be submitted by June 1st
2009.

EDIFICE
Activity Updates:

AsiaB2B:
AsiaB2B,
the B2B User forum for Asia-Pacific being created with the
support of EDIFICE, released its website
www.asiaB2B.org/.
Eleven companies sign up as Founder and the organisation is
being registered in Singapore. AsiaB2B Task Group activities
are getting started. One group will focus on Business
Processes and a second group will focus on SME Integration.
The AsiaB2B Inauguration Conference is planned to be held in
Singapore in the 2nd half of 2009.

B2B User forum in the Americas:
The B2B User group organisation
in the USA has been disbanded. The people who used to be
involved in this organisation are now looking to set up a
new platform to serve the B2B interest of the high tech
companies in the Americas.

ODETTE - Automotive:
Boudewijn Janssen
and John Canvin signed the EDIFICE/ODETTE collaboration
agreement that will allow both organisations to collaborate
on projects of common interest. The Projects identified are
in the Collaborative Forecasting and the Automatic Data
Capture/RFID areas.
·
OAGi:
The membership has shown an
interest in the OAGIS standard developments and agreed that
EDIFICE signed a collaboration agreement with the OAGi
organisation at this 107th Plenary. The objective
is to investigate how the OAGIS standard covers the B2B
requirements for those business processes of interest to the
EDIFICE membership.

RosettaNet:
The remote report
from Donald Tsusaki highlighted the latest news from
the RosettaNet organisation. The RosettaNet standard is
freely accessible again. Non-members have to register
themselves. The GS1 global integration has been deferred and
the roadmap reports activities in the areas of Message
Control & Choreography, Reverse Logistics and UN/CEFACT Core
Components. RosettaNet introduces a new membership model.

The
EDIFICE Business area Task Groups report the following
activities:

ADC- Automatic Data Capture
by Erich Guenter of IBM, ADC Chair
The group is holding a next FtF meeting after Plenary that
will agree on the road map for 2009. Focus will be on the
update of ADC deliverables to include latest updates of
related international standards i.e. ISO
There will be a focus on RFID and more specifically in the
context of the collaboration with ODETTE.
ADC holds its monthly conf calls on the 3rd
Wednesday of each month.

BILL-eInvoicing
by Tony Nisbett of IBM, BILL Chair
The BILL Task Group held a meeting on the day prior to
Plenary. Unfortunately the turnout was again very low. All
member representatives are asked to please get their finance
people involved in the BILL group.
Tony reports on the latest activities on eInvoicing in
Europe within the CEN/ISSS organisation where he
participates and represents EDIFICE in the Compliance
subgroup. Tony invites the audience to look into the
eInvoicing “Good Practice Guideline” that was published for
review.
The European Commission published a proposal to change the
European VAT Directive.

BILL holds its meetings adjacent to Plenary meetings.

DCM – Distribution Channel Management
by Eric Pannekeet of Fairchild Semiconductor.
The group is holding a FtF meeting after Plenary. The Agenda
will cover a presentation on the Fairchild DCM application
that was kicked of recently and that deals with the GDSCO
topic (Global Distribution Supply Chain Optimisation).
Another topic is to include a cross reference to the OAGIS
BoDs applicable to the DCM area.
DCM is collaborating on an update of the RosettaNet Request
for Quote and Ship from Stock & Debit Authorization business
processes to include a Supplier initiated
confirmation/response.
DCM holds monthly conf calls on the 1st Wednesday
of each month.

FIM - Forecast & Inventory Management
by Mario Mueller of Siltronic
The FIM group is holding a FtF meeting after Plenary. The
Agenda will discuss the 2009 Roadmap.
One of the topics being envisioned is to create a set of
guidelines describing how to perform collaborative
performance management in a standard manner.
Another project is to review the options to align the FIM
activities with OAGi through participation in a project
being led by Intel.
One of the major topics is the ODETTE collaboration that
will be kicked off at the next day´s meeting.
FIM holds regular conf calls and all interested to
contribute are asked to step forward.

New activities:
EDIFICE ran a membership survey during January and the
results show an interest to start new activities in the
area of
B2B Technology
and
SME Integration.
The June Plenary will kick-off the B2B Technology Group.
In the SME Integration context EDIFICE is contributing
to a project creating Excel spreadsheet Templates to
serve the need for companies to exchange electronic data
with non-EDI enabled trading partners.

108th
EDIFICE PLENARY
Is being planned to take place
in the UK on 3-4 June 2009 hosted by Inovis.
Because of the current economic
situation that restricts travel for some companies we are
looking into alternative means of organising this
conference.
All details on June Plenary will
be announced shortly.
Theme will be around “Cost
savings through efficient B2B processes & tools”.
Member companies interested to present a case study related
to the theme are asked to get in touch with the secretariat.
All active Task Groups are
planning to hold meetings adjacent to Plenary.
