EDIFICE Activity Updates:

·         AsiaB2B:

AsiaB2B, the B2B User forum for Asia-Pacific being created with the support of EDIFICE, released its website www.asiaB2B.org/. Eleven companies sign up as Founder and the organisation is being registered in Singapore. AsiaB2B Task Group activities are getting started. One group will focus on Business Processes and a second group will focus on SME Integration. The AsiaB2B Inauguration Conference is planned to be held in Singapore in the 2nd half of 2009.

·         B2B User forum in the Americas:

The B2B User group organisation in the USA has been disbanded. The people who used to be involved in this organisation are now looking to set up a new platform to serve the B2B interest of the high tech companies in the Americas.

·         ODETTE - Automotive:
Boudewijn Janssen and John Canvin signed the EDIFICE/ODETTE collaboration agreement that will allow both organisations to collaborate on projects of common interest. The Projects identified are in the Collaborative Forecasting and the Automatic Data Capture/RFID areas.

·         OAGi:

The membership has shown an interest in the OAGIS standard developments and agreed that EDIFICE signed a collaboration agreement with the OAGi organisation at this 107th Plenary. The objective is to investigate how the OAGIS standard covers the B2B requirements for those business processes of interest to the EDIFICE membership.

·         RosettaNet:
The remote report from Donald Tsusaki highlighted the latest news from the RosettaNet organisation. The RosettaNet standard is freely accessible again. Non-members have to register themselves. The GS1 global integration has been deferred and the roadmap reports activities in the areas of Message Control & Choreography, Reverse Logistics and UN/CEFACT Core Components. RosettaNet introduces a new membership model.

The EDIFICE Business area Task Groups report the following activities:

·         ADC- Automatic Data Capture by Erich Guenter of IBM, ADC Chair
The group is holding a next FtF meeting after Plenary that will agree on the road map for 2009. Focus will be on the update of ADC deliverables to include latest updates of related international standards i.e. ISO
There will be a focus on RFID and more specifically in the context of the collaboration with ODETTE.

ADC holds its monthly conf calls on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

·         BILL-eInvoicing by Tony Nisbett of IBM, BILL Chair

The BILL Task Group held a meeting on the day prior to Plenary. Unfortunately the turnout was again very low. All member representatives are asked to please get their finance people involved in the BILL group.

DCM holds monthly conf calls on the 1st Wednesday of each month.

·         FIM - Forecast & Inventory Management by Mario Mueller of Siltronic
The FIM group is holding a FtF meeting after Plenary. The Agenda will discuss the 2009 Roadmap.
One of the topics being envisioned is to create a set of guidelines describing how to perform collaborative performance management in a standard manner.
Another project is to review the options to align the FIM activities with OAGi through participation in a project being led by Intel.

One of the major topics is the ODETTE collaboration that will be kicked off at the next day´s meeting.

FIM holds regular conf calls and all interested to contribute are asked to step forward.

  • New activities:
EDIFICE ran a membership survey during January and the results show an interest to start new activities in the area of
    B2B Technology and SME Integration.

The June Plenary will kick-off the B2B Technology Group.

In the SME Integration context EDIFICE is contributing to a project creating Excel spreadsheet Templates to serve the need for companies to exchange electronic data with non-EDI enabled trading partners.
